Fine Handmade Byzantine Chainmaille
One weave. One focal. One story.
“The serpent that devours its own tail has meant one thing for three thousand years: what is made well endures, returns, and begins again.”
Ouroboros Opus is a one-woman studio devoted to a single craft: Byzantine chainmaille, the dense interlocking weave descended from late Roman and medieval chain construction.
Every piece is woven by hand, ring by ring, from hypoallergenic metals: 316L stainless steel, titanium, niobium, and limited sterling silver. A single necklace can take three to four hours and two hundred rings.
Nothing here is fast fashion. These are talismans. Substantial, meaningful, and built to outlast the decades they are worn through.
Necklaces and bracelets, every one woven by hand and every one the only one of its kind. What is shown is what exists.
316L stainless steel, titanium, and niobium only. Hypoallergenic, tarnish-resistant, and safe for the most sensitive skin. No plating to wear off, no mystery alloys.
Every ring is opened, placed, and closed by hand. The Byzantine weave cannot be faked or machine-substituted. Its density and drape are the proof of the hours in it.
Ouroboros focals, forged rings, crescent moons, sigils. Each carries a lineage worth knowing and a meaning worth wearing. A piece should say something before it says anything.
Custom lengths, alternate metals, a focal that means something specific to you: commissions are welcome and often become the favorite piece in the shop.
